A Short Communication on Sequential and Structural Information’s of Human Galanin Receptors using in Silico Methods
نویسنده
چکیده
Gal (1-3) receptors are members of GPCR superfamily with seven transmembrane helices. The neuropeptide galanin mediates its effects through the receptor subtypes Gal1, Gal2, and Gal3 and has been implicated in anxiety and depression related behaviors. Galanin receptors are considered to be important targets for the development of novel antidepressant drugs. Owing to the importance of these receptors, a short communication about the sequential and structural studies about the functional Galanin (1-3) receptors has been reported. Structural studies have been hampered due to the lack of Xray crystal structures. However with the availability of templates with close homologs comparative modeling could be encouraging. Sequence analysis was done for each receptors and homology modeling of each receptors were done with recently reported templates. Comparative analyses were done between these receptors to identify the relationships between them sequentially. Phylogram was generated between these receptors to identify the close homologue between this receptor and found that Gal2 and Gal3 receptors are closer. Our results could be useful for further structure based drug design targeting Gal1, Gal2 and Gal3 receptors.

The role of galanin receptors in anticonvulsant effect of low frequency stimulations on acquisition of perforant path kindled seizures in rats
Introduction: Low-frequency stimulation (LFS) has a delaying effect on kindled seizures acquisition. In the present study we examined the role of galanin receptors in the inhibitory effects of LFS on kindled seizures induced by electrical stimulation of perforant path. Methods: Animals were stimulated daily at the AD threshold intensity with a rapid kindling procedure. LFS was applied immed...
متن کاملThe Effect of 12 Weeks of HIIT Training and Curcumin Consumption on Leptin and Galanin Levels in Obese Women
Background & objectives: Leptin and galanin are hormones involved in appetite and energy balance that play an important role in metabolism regulation and energy balance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the 12 weeks of intense intermittent exercise (HIIT) and curcumin consumption effect on leptin and galanin levels on inactive obese women. Methods: 30 obese women were randomly selected fro...
متن کاملSafety Assessment of cryIAc for human, animals and environment
Risk assessment of a transgene is one of the key steps in genetic transformation. Hence, in order to use cryIAc gene for production of transgenic plants, a library and in-silico research was performed to confirm safety of the gene for human comsumption, animal feed and environment. In the first step, the molecular mechanism of action of the CryIAc protein and its specific receptors in the midgu...
متن کاملStructure Evaluation of IroN for Designing a Vaccine against Escherichia Coli, an In Silico Approach
Introduction: Some strains of Escherichia Coli, including intestinal pathogenic strains, commensal strains, and extra intestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) have a significant impact on human health status. A standard vaccine designed based on conserved epitopes can stimulate a protective immune response against these pathogens. Additionally, enhanced expression at the infection site as a pathog...
متن کاملShort N-terminal galanin fragments are occurring naturally in vivo
The galanin family currently consists of four peptides, namely galanin, galanin-message associated peptide, galanin-like peptide and alarin. Unlike galanin that signals through three different G protein-coupled receptors; GAL1, GAL2, and GAL3, binding at its N-terminal end, the cognate receptors for other members of the galanin family are currently unknown. Research using short N-terminal galan...
